The purpose of the American Indian Movement of Florida Inc. is to effectively represent the interests and concerns of Indigenous peoples in Florida as well as throughout the Western Hemisphere, to serve as a coordinating and catalytic agency mobilizing total Indian resources in cooperation with other planning and coordinating agencies, public and private, to upgrade the conditions in which Indigenous peoples live, to improve the image of American Indian people which has been portrayed in stereotypical form, to serve as the designated applicant agency for AIM funded programs in the State of Florida and as a recipient agency for other funds for programs designed to alleviate poverty; to develop increased involvement of Indian people in planning and implementing the wide range of programs and services directed at the Indigenous peoples living in the United States. The purpose of this corporation shall be to solicit and broaden the opportunities for Indigenous peoples so that he/she may enjoy his/her full rights as a sovereign National native. In that vein, this corporation will effectively represent the interests and concerns of Indigenous peoples by supporting and defending Indigenous people's civil, human, treaty, religious, and sovereign rights. Wherever possible, this corporation will provide social and community services including, but not limited to, AIDS awareness, Substance Abuse Prevention/Treatment, Vocational-Rehabilitation programs, parent-teacher associations, and emergency assistance programs. This will include monitoring social service agencies to ensure that they provide adequate services to the Indigenous peoples of Florida. This corporation will also act as an educational/informational agency providing information regarding Indigenous struggles and issues to the public.
